     Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (http://www.phada.org)
Founded in 1979, PHADA represents the professional administrators of approximately 1,900 housing authorities throughout the United States. PHADA works closely with members of Congress in efforts to develop sensible and effective public housing statutes and obtain adequate funding for low-income housing programs. The association also serves as an advocate before the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on a variety of regulations governing public housing nationwide.

The Supportive Housing Providers Association (SHPA) is a statewide association of non-profit organizations who provide supportive housing - affordable housing, enriched with supportive services - to individuals and families who are homeless and/or have special needs, such as mental illness, substance abuse issues, or other chronic illness, such as HIV/AIDS. SHPA was started in 1995 with assistance from the Corporation for Supportive Housing. SHPA's members share the conviction, born out of their own experience, that permanent supportive housing provides a permanent, cost-effective solution to homelessness for the state's most vulnerable citizens.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program is a government subsidized housing assistance program for a low income family or individual. The tenant will pay about 30% to 40% of their monthly income towards their rent. Section 8 will pay for (subsidize) the rest.
